Einblick in den Imhofs Hifi Katalog von 1962

Es ist etwas Besonderes, einen so gut erhaltenen Hifi-Katalog aus dem England von 1962 zu bekommen. Wir haben die Seiten so geschickt wie möglich aufgeteilt, sonst würde eine einzelne Seite zu lang werden. Blättern Sie oben in der weißen Leiste von Seite zu Seite.

An diese Lautsprecher kann sich fast niemand mehr erinnern.

Der Autor war gerade mal 13 Jahre alt und bei uns zuhause war das Thema Hifi-Musik aus einer Stereoanlage nie zur Sprache gekommen. Es war schlichtweg zu teuer und sowieso ein ungeheurer Luxus. Auch wurde bis zu meinem Einstieg in die Hif-Welt 1966/67 kräftig weiter entwickelt und es kamen fortlaufend neue Produkte heraus. Vom Braun Chefentwickler W. Hasselbach hatte ich bei unseren Gesprächen erzählt bekommen, daß sich vor und um 1962 auch die Ingenieure bei Braun das Wissen erst einmal mühsam aneignen mußten. Als sie es hatten, waren sie dann sogar besser als die Engländer.

Generally speaking, the loudspeaker is still likely to be the weakest link in a high fidelity system. To do full justice to the other components the best possible speaker should be chosen, although a point may be reached where, if the speaker is too good for some of the components, the faults apparent in them may well be accentuated. If one wishes to economise, it is easiest to begin with the loudspeaker, as this could possibly be improved later by the use of additional units or the cheaper loudspeaker could become an extension speaker for another room.

The cabinet forms an integral part of the speaker system and should be accurately designed for the unit incorporated. Smoothness In the response of the speaker is more important than a wide frequency range; quite fine speakers of wide frequency range may have undesirable peaks which give a harsh quality to the sound. In addition adequate power and handling capacity in relation to the amplifier used are essential.

When making your final choice, it is important to listen to a wide range of programme material and to compare a number of different makes of loudspeaker. Imhofs comparator in the hi-fi showroom makes this simple.

Auch bei den Hifi-Lautsprechern gab es massenweise Auswahl. Während im Grundig-Prospekt von 1963 alles nur Klangboxen oder Klangstrahler waren und nur zwei oder drei Hifi-Boxen angeboten wurden, handelt es sich hier wirklich um Hifi-Boxen.

Goodmans AL 100

H.M.V. 519

A three-speaker system fitted in a cabinet of small physical size. Units: 13" x 8" bass with two 3" tweeters. Finish: Waxed Walnut. Dimensions: 31" x 13" x 15".
